04/29/19 -Missouri Mondays -Stop Forced Pregnancy Bill! Tell Your Senator to VOTE NO on HB126!!

We’re in the final weeks of the legislative session and the time to act is NOW! to stop the disastrous forced pregnancy bill and to defend the will of the voters!

Tell your Senator to VOTE NO! on HB 126 with SCS (Senate Committee Substitute), a bill that puts women’s health and safety at risk and violates their right to their own body and future because it would:

  • Eliminate all abortions if a fetal heartbeat is detected (usually around 6 weeks) except in the case of medical emergencies, which is undefined

  • Require that both custodial parents be notified of a minor’s pending abortion, regardless of rape or incest

  • Ban abortion if Down’s Syndrome is diagnosed

  • Require all practitioners who perform abortions to carry $1 million in malpractice insurance.

  • Ban all abortions and charge the provider with a felony if Roe v. Wade is overturned

Mark your calendars for May 8 to join Planned Parenthood and advocates from across the state to tell our state lawmakers to #StopTheBans and protect access to safe, legal abortion in Missouri!  See Planned Parenthood Advocates Rally at the Missouri Capitol event on FB for more details and to RSVP.

Clean Missouri Amendment 1 Update:

Last week we called for action on bills that would overturn the will of Missouri voters and to weaken the ability of Missouri citizens to file ballot initiative petitions in the future. These bills are still progressing. Continue to call your senator and representative!

We will not allow them to thwart the will of Missouri voters!! They must vote NO on SJR 1 and NO on House Joint Resolutions 48! House Joint Resolutions 48 (which now contains HJR 46 and 47) would overturn the will of Missourians who voted for this amendment and allow gerrymandering to promote partisan goals. Tell your representative NO! Missouri voters have already spoken! VOTE NO on House Joint Resolutions 48!

SJR 1 would require signatures from all Congressional districts in order to place an amendment on the ballot and would require over 60% of voter approval to pass. This resolution is still on the Informal Calendar in the Senate. Tell your Senator to VOTE NO on SJR 1 today!

THANK YOU! for answering the Missouri Mondays CALL TO ACTION!
