04/19/21 - Missouri Mondays - Your voice matters! Take action on Medicaid funding and more!

In the final weeks of the Missouri legislative session we need your help fighting for Medicaid funding and pushing back Republican attempts to take away your voice through the initiative petition process, allowing guns in K-12 schools and on college campuses, in daycares, bars, churches, and legislation that would allow public tax dollar credits for private schools. Make your voice heard this week!

CALL YOUR STATE SENATOR TO FULLY FUND MEDICAID EXPANSION!

  • MEDICAID FUNDING - TELL MO SENATORS TO FULLY FUND MEDICAID EXPANSION! The House Republican Budget Committee voted down HB 20 that would have funded Medicaid expansion and then the full House passed a $32 billion state operating budget for the fiscal year that starts July 1 without funding allotments for expansion of Medicaid. This blatant move to block a constitutionally mandated expansion of the program’s eligibility threshold CANNOT STAND! CALL and WRITE your Senator today and DEMAND they honor the people’s voice! Find your Senator HERE: https://www.senate.mo.gov/LegisLookup/Default.aspx AND CALL the following Senators on the Senate Appropriations Committee to fully fund Medicaid expansion: Sen. Dan Hegeman (573) 751-1415, Sen. Lincoln Hough (573) 751-1311, Sen. Lauren Arthur (573) 751-5282, Sen. Justin Brown (573) 751-5713, Sen. Mike Cierpiot (573) 751-1464, Sen. Sandy Crawford (573) 751-8793, Sen. Bill Eigel (573) 751-1141, Sen. Karla Eslinger (573) 751-1882, Sen. Denny Hoskins (573) 751-4302, Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer (573) 751-2183, Sen. Karla May (573) 751-3599, Sen. Jeanie Riddle (573) 751-2757, Sen. Barbara Washington (573) 751-3158, Sen. Brian Williams (573) 751-4106

TELL YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE TO VOTE NO ON THE FOLLOWING BILLS:

  • VOTER SUPPRESSION - NO on HJR 26 and any attempts to change the initiative petition process! HJR 26 is STILL on the House Formal Calendar for Perfection this week and could be debated any time. The Missouri GOP wants to change this honored process that has served the people well for over 100 years. Similar bills include House bills HJR 22 HJR 5, HJR 2, HJR 9, HJR 15, HJR 14, HB 333, HJR 20, HJR 25, HJR 26, HJR 27, HB 556

  • VOTER SUPPRESSION - NO on HCS HB 925 requiring paper ballots and raises fees on candidates to file!

  • GUNS EVERYWHERE - NO GUNS IN BARS, DAYCARES, COLLEGES AND K-12 SCHOOLS, CHURCHES! NO on HB 86, HB 359, HB 634! - HB 86 would force colleges and universities to allow people to carry concealed handguns on their campuses, allow concealed handguns in daycares, and elementary, middle, and high schools, in bars (despite overwhelming public opposition and alcohol's association with increased aggression) It would also allow people to bring hidden, loaded handguns onto private property even if the owner has posted a "no guns allowed" sign. HB 359 and HB 634 would allow guns in churches and other places of worship.

SUBMIT WITNESS TESTIMONY TO OPPOSE HOUSE BILL HB 496 TAX CREDITS FOR PRIVATE SCHOOL!

  • EDUCATION - NO PUBLIC TAX DOLLARS FOR PRIVATE SCHOOL! HB 495 would authorize a tax credit for parents of students attending school outside of their school district. Submit witness testimony in opposition of HB 496 for the hearing scheduled Tuesday April 20 at 8 am in the House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee. Submit your testimony HERE: https://house.mo.gov/WitnessForm/Default.aspx?bill=HB496&noticeid=6158
